Teens

Teens are such a joy to work with. We LOVE their sense of wonder, independence, resilience, sass, and overall genuine and authentic personalities. This is such a pivotal age for exploration and moving from being dependent upon adult regulation and guidance to an independent mindset. Typically teens are getting to know who they are and want to be as fully formed adults and individuals.

My Approach

My Approach

I provide a personalized approach to therapy incorporating a variety of techniques:

Talk Therapy

This gives space to recognize and acknowledge patterns of symptomatology, identify areas of your life you are feeling impacted, and discuss tools for managing the symptoms.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

This is a great technique for deeper therapeutic work to get through frozen memories, unwanted intense feelings, and provide a calm state of mind.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

This approach is great to recognize why the symptoms came to be the way they are and give them more awareness from an alternative perspective. When we shift our mindset from feeling like our whole self to only a part of ourself is actually overwhelmed, one can regain a sense of control and reduce the overall feeling of being overwhelmed.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Recognizing our thought patterns is important to know how to support the internal dialogue and reduce symptomatology. CBT is a great technique to help recognize negative thought patterns and exercise different techniques to restore healthy thinking. This is a wonderful form of treatment for children and adults.

Trained Therapy Dog -  Benni is a hypoallergenic Australian Labradoodle. He enjoys meeting new faces and supporting individuals and couples during sessions when requested. He has been in training since he was 9-weeks old to assist in providing a sense of comfort and safety during our sessions.

I specialize in working with first responders and law enforcement as a Certified First Responder Counselor. For several years I worked within law enforcement. My husband works in law enforcement and is a veteran. Having a unique understanding and experience with the ups and downs of a life of service can have on a person, marriage, and family is what I bring to the table. Within my private practice as well as volunteering at the West Coast Post Trauma Retreat through the First Responder Support Network, I've worked with many first responders and various departments within law enforcement. I love being able to provide support to both the individual experiencing on the job challenges and stressors, as well as working with couples and supporting them through their collective challenges. It's important to have a real, firsthand understanding concerning the life and the cultural stigmas within these specialized work environments. Our sessions take place in a safe space where we can work through your intense and sometimes overwhelming thoughts and feelings. With warmth and kindness, sometimes a bit of dark humor, we will work through your treatment options and find a solution that best fits your current struggles.

I specialize in working with individuals with chronic illness, specifically Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Hypermobility, and the trifecta of comorbidities that arise from this condition, including Dysautonomia, MCAS, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue. I'm very familiar with this condition because I myself have EDS and the comorbidities that can come with this condition. I enjoy being able to sit with others and support them on their journey with this condition.

Working in high stress work environments is another one of those complicated experiences. I work with medical professionals, clinicians, social workers, and many others in high stressful jobs. When you do a job you love and are passionate about, it can be stressful and overwhelming trying to do your best by your patients and charges. You may feel overwhelmed, stressed, burned out, or experienced trauma from an incident that occurred on the job. You don't have the option to not show up or not be present for your patients or clients even though you may feel that internal struggle on the inside. I get it. I understand. I see you and hear you.

Another large group of my clients are individuals and couples experiencing infertility. Infertility as a whole is complex in the sense that it comes with deep feelings from the beginning to the end of the process. Feelings have a tendency to compile on one another, creating an emotional rollercoaster making it extremely difficult to find the time and space to prepare and heal enough for the next cycle, phase, round, etc. My role is to support you through this extremely difficult journey.
