Megan Noriega

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #125948

Welcome! My name is Megan and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist under the supervision of Jennifer Nava, LMFT. My passion is walking alongside people in their healing journey and I would be honored to be a part of yours.

My Approach

I offer a warm, accepting space where you can feel safe and heard. I believe that having a trusting relationship without judgment is one of the critical components of therapy that makes it effective. I seek to create a unique, individualized approach with each client. Here are some approaches and techniques I commonly use with clients:

Cognitive & Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

With these approaches we will dig into unhelpful thoughts and beliefs about yourself, others, and the world that are keeping you stuck in the same harmful patterns. These modalities also offer invaluable skills for emotional regulation and communication that will improve your ability to handle stressors in your life.

Attachment Approach

One of the primary predictors of our mental health is how we relate to people and what kind of support system we have. My goal is to help you have happy, healthy relationships with friends, family, and potentially a partner, that will give you support, fulfillment, and joy. Many of us have experienced deep pain in relationships, and in secure relationships we can heal those wounds. I seek to help you experience security in our therapeutic relationship where we can explore relational patterns, healthy conflict, and assertive communication in a safe space.

Somatic Therapy & Brainspotting

Many of us have experienced varying types of trauma and emotional pain that are at the root of unhelpful beliefs, behaviors, and relationships. Trauma lives in the deeper regions of the brain that Somatic Therapy or body-based therapy can directly address. Brainspotting is a powerful technique I use to address trauma, depression, and anxiety. The breakthroughs and life change I have seen through the use of Brainspotting are incredible. So much so that I would highly recommend considering this modality as part of your treatment plan.

Specialties

Teens

It is an absolute joy to support teens and meet them wherever they are at. It’s not uncommon for teens to be hesitant about therapy and unsure about opening up. I seek to provide an engaging, unpressured environment where teens can take therapy at their own pace and discover what they would most like to get out of the process. I love supporting teens in this complicated, often stressful time in their lives. This is a critical time in development and therapy can help teens in becoming healthy, secure adults.

Complex Trauma & PTSD

It is my deep joy to support clients in processing and releasing past trauma. Trauma can feel so engulfing and overwhelming, and it is a joy to see clients walk into freedom. As a trauma survivor myself, I can hold empathetic and understanding space for you as you share the worst of what has happened to you. I am confident that we can move towards healing and freedom together, no matter what you have experienced.
